The Jape Group
The Timor Plaza was built by Dili Development Lda., one of the Jape Group of Companies, specialising in large-scale, high-quality property developments for leasing as retail, residential and office premises in Timor-Leste.
The Jape Group was founded by Mr Jape Kong Su in Darwin, Northern Territory in 1976 and is owned by the family, which has its origins in Timor-Leste. From the success of commercial property projects in the Darwin city centre in the 1980's the Jape Group prospered and progressed to the development of the Jape Homemaker Village in 1989. The first phase of the Timor Plaza opened in October 2011.
Timor Plaza, the place to be
The Timor Plaza was built with the objective of creating a new Central Business District for Timor-Leste’s capital city. With the completion of CBD 10 in 2023 there will be even more choice of retail stores and offices, Dili Development is already on track to achieving its goal.
The Timor Plaza Shopping Mall has become a focal point for commercial and social activity in Dili. The Timor Plaza Hotel and Restaurant is a valuable addition to the country’s hospitality industry inventory, offering accommodation and conference facilities capable of attracting and hosting high-level events such as conventions, VIP visits and functions.
The Timor Plaza’s leased offices are home to some of the most prominent companies in the country: Timor GAP E.P. (Timor-Leste’s National Oil Company), CGD/BNU, ANZ and Mandiri Banks, Timor Telecom, Telemor and Telkomcel among them. The retail units are showcases for local products, goods and services as well as offering a wide choice of imported items. In addition to the very popular food court, there are several independent restaurants at Timor Plaza, including a Burger King franchise, the first of its kind in Timor-Leste.
Timor Plaza is more than a retail centre; it is a lifestyle centre where everything for the home and family is available in an attractive, inviting and convenient shopping environment, with easy access and parking. The Timor Plaza Centre Court has also become a renowned arena for social, cultural and commercial activity. It is now the intention of Dili Development Lda. to create more buildings to accommodate a balanced range of retail, accommodation, office and tourism facilities, constituting a vibrant commercial community that will drive private sector development in the capital for years to come.
